Tiles Made of Vintage Leather Belts!?

with one comment

What a nice floor! Wait, are those belts? Yes… in fact, the design company TING (based out of London and Los Angeles), reuses vintage leather belts to make, of all things, tiles that can be used as flooring. In addition to this innovative flooring design, TING also uses the vintage leather belts to fashion “robust deluxe accessories,” like satchels, weekend bags, and totes, which “are lined with bright vintage fabrics, tie silks and corduroys and have belt buckle fastenings.”

Inghua Ting, founder of TING, is a Royal College of Art graduate whose work in fabric technology “led her to considering sustainable issues, and the challenge of designing and producing a desirable, luxury product from reclaimed materials.”

Props to TING, for ultra-chic upcycling!
