Thanks to all of you who’ve shared in the excitement of our first billboard, now up on Airport Boulevard just north of Manor Road (visible to those headed South on Airport).  We are grateful to the Go Texan program for making it possible, Reagan Billboards for the services, and of course, all of you who support our “unconventional” ways.  We hope to see all of you this Friday as we celebrate our new community partner with another in.gredients first: a square dance! See below for more details.

Wine of the Week: Llano Estacado 2013 Signature White

This year Sauvignon Blanc takes the lead in Llano’s line up. The blend maintains its appeal as an exceptional reception wine. The residual sugar balances with the crisp acidity ensuring the fruity aromas of this wine follow to the mouth. This sugar balance allows Signature White to complement hot, spicy dishes such as Southwest cuisine or Thai foods while its fruit and floral aromas go well with California cuisine and fresh Mediterranean dishes.

Llano Estacado Signature White has become so popular that this winery has outgrown their ability to provide enough Texas grapes. This year they sourced grapes from three different states (California, New Mexico and Texas) to produce a wine we know you will enjoy. When current and future vineyard plantings come into production, however, they intend to bring this blend back to Texas.

Get it this week by the glass or take a bottle home for 10% off!

Coffee of the Month: Equal Exchange Rabble Rouser

In honor of World Fair Trade day on May 9th, May’s Coffee of the Month is from our Fair Trade pioneering friends at Equal Exchange.  Since the mid-1980s, their worker-owned cooperative has been championing small producers and helping build a better, more just economy.  The “Rabble Rouser” is a feisty blend with dark brown spices and malt flavors rounded out by a heavy mouthfeel and a light, zesty aftertaste.  Make May a month for shaking things up and start your mornings with the Rabble Rouser.  On special all of May!

Wunder Monday

#WunderMonday is changing the way you start your week. Through the summer months, get savings on the delicious Wunder-Pilz Kombucha every Monday. Stop in for $1 off a glass of fermented tea and feel good about all the “wunderful” things it does for your body and taste buds alike.  Hey, you might even start looking forward to Mondays!

Vendor Spotlight

Regular profiles of some of our favorite vendors
Pecan Shop Natives

Pecan Shop’s Texas native pecans are certified pesticide-free, which makes sense considering they’re wild-harvested!  That means they don’t require irrigation, fertilization, or spraying, and they promote and support mutually beneficial, soil-building grasses.  Once harvested, their pecans are “activated,” which means they’re soaked in filtered water with sea salt to release vitamins and enzymes and dissolve enzyme inhibitors.  Low-temperature drying preserves these delicate nutrients.  As a small family business, buying Pecan Shop Natives supports not only the environment and your health, but also a healthy local economy.
