We’re excited to host the 8th Annual Bug Festival!  Come sample some tasty bug treats by Hopper FoodsCrickers and Aspire Food Group while you enjoy bug-inspired art from Art.Science.Gallery.!  Plus, Thirsty Planet will be here to help wash everything down.  

Weekly Recipe

Black Bean Curry


2 Cans Black Beans

1 Can Crushed Tomatoes
1 Garlic Clove, minced
1/2 Onion, chopped
1/2 tsp Fresh Ginger, grated
1 tsp Garam Masala
1/2 tsp Salt, or more to taste
1 TBSP Cilantro, chopped
1 or 2 TBSP Butter, (substitute olive or vegetable oil to make this vegan)
1 Pack Lotus Ramen Noodles


  1. In a pot bring water to a rolling boil and add the ramen noodles.
  2. In a large pot, melt the butter (or heat oil if substituting) over medium high heat and add the chopped onion. Saute until the onion is golden brown and beginning to caramelize well, about 8 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and ginger, stir for 15-30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add both cans of black beans, the can of Tomatoes, the Garam Masala, and the salt.
  5. Simmer the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until reduced and the liquid is nice and thick, about 15 minutes.
  6. Turn off heat and add chopped cilantro to finish, stir and serve over ramen noodles.

Dos Lunas Cheese

Dos Lunas is a specially aged raw cow’s milk cheese. Their milk comes from Stryk Farms in Schulenburg, TX, a grass-fed raw milk that helps create the amazingly creamy texture of their cheese.  A labor of love from multiple generations of the Avellan family, you can read the fascinating (and full) origin story here.  We’re with their cheese and glad to offer it on special this week.
