What a weekend!  In case you missed it, we had a great First Friday Block Party with Guide Dogs of Texas, Strangeland Brewing, and Dreamboat (also playing this Friday), and then on Saturday we hosted the 8th Annual Bug Festival. What a joy to watch so many people try edible insects for their first time!  Itching for more? Weekly Recipe

Marinated Stew Meat with Carrots and Jalapeno Aioli

Serves: 4


  • 1 bag of Dear Run Stew Meat
  • 1 bottle of Mother’s Cafe Cashew Tamari dressing
  • 8 large carrots
  • Salt & Pepper to taste


  • 1 tbsp Yellowbird Jalapeno sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup canola oil (or canola/olive oil mix)
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp salt


  1. Rinse and pat dry meat (set aside), clean and quarter the carrots cutting lengthwise 
  2. Pour the Mother’s Cashew Tamari Dressing in a large mixing bowl or ziplock bag, add above in.gredients (Let rest in fridge 30 mins to 2 hrs).
  1. In a blender add egg, salt, vinegar and Jalapeno sauce and set to medium speed.
  2. Gradually pour in oil until mixture thickens, cool in fridge.
Cooking & Serving:
  1. Empty the contents of the bag or bowl into a large skillet (cast iron preferred) on high heat.
  2. Mix the beef as you sear the sides for about 5 mins, lower heat, add lid and stir occasionally (15-20mins).
  3. Serve a few pieces of beef garnished with cilantro or avocado (optional), a few of the carrots quarters and a small ramekin of the aioli. Pair with a bottle of Cabernet, GSM or Malbec.
